Southern Corsica is a vast territory that is full of activities and the most beautiful sites. From Porto-Vecchio to Bonifacio via Ajaccio you will find an incredible wealth of heritage! Between the wonders of Mother Nature, the picturesque villages or cities rich in history... Everyone's tastes and desires will be satisfied!

Description

Let’s start at the beginning, or rather the end of the territory, with its famous southern tip where the picturesque capital of Corsica stands proudly on limestone cliffs known to all: Bonifacio. The start is  here! Sea trips to discover the Lavezzi Islands, Discovery of the Citadel with its famous monuments such as the Stairway of the King of Aragon or the Bastion of the Etendard (which is the highest in France! yes, yes just that!), you will start your stay in apotheosis! But all this is only the beginning…

Just 30 minutes by car, you will discover “the city of salt” more commonly known as Porto-Vecchio. This small town has a great track record in terms of it’s beaches!

And yes, most of the postcard photos of white sand and turquoise water were taken in Porto-Vecchio! Santa-Ghjulia or Palombaggia are emblematic beaches of Corsica, so don’t forget to put on your most beautiful swimsuit.

Let’s continue our discovery by going back a little further inland, to explore the mountains of Southern Corsica, known for its wild pigs and its many hikes! For this reason we propose a stop in Bavella, a major site for its trail departures and its famous “Needles” excellent to photograph at sunset.

If you wish a short “freshness” break, a little further down, you will discover the Cavu valley, famous for its natural swimming pools and water slides.

From small villages to small villages it will be possible for you to cross Southern Corsica to reach the West Coast and more particularly the city of Sartène considered and recognized as the most “Corsican” city in Corsica! Immersion guaranteed!  Our recommendation: Take an evening to listen to a concert of traditional polyphonies!

If you stay a few days in the area, do not hesitate to make a short 30 minute detour to discover the site of the Lion of Roccapina which has the claim of thousands of cameras flashes!

Let’s continue our little getaway by going up to Propriano, a small seaside and family town. You will find many activities there: walks by the sea, walks in the Corsican scrubland towards the tower of Campomoro, the natural hot springs of Barracci or Caldane… The hardest part will be to choose!

Finally, as you know, all good things have an end, here our end will be Ajaccio, known as the “imperial city” because it houses the world-famous “Napoleon Bonaparte” family home but not only that! Indeed the Ajaccio region holds many natural treasures! Like the ‘îles des Sanguinaires’ that you can admire from land or on board a boat, the heavenly beaches of Porticcio which is a small seaside resort located 10 minutes from Ajaccio or the mountains in the Ajaccio hinterland that houses the only ski resort in Southern Corsica: the ski resort of Ese. So if you want to go suring the winter, don’t forget to pack your après-skis.
